Q: What is a virtual course?
A: It’s a course that is offered via the internet and the phone (or an equivalent voice service), and in this way it offers a wonderful way to engage in live and recorded lectures, discussions, and interactions with course instructor, Miriam Mason Martineau, and participants from around the world from the comfort of your own home!
Between sessions, participants are also invited to share their experiences and reflections in a private online facebook group and to interact with other participants.
For the two live interactive calls we use MaestroConference to make it just like an in-person event, where you can ask questions, share your experiences, and deepen your exploration of the course themes. If you choose to participate by phone, depending on your telephone service, you may also incur some long-distance charges for the calls themselves. You can also use Skype credit/subscription or Google Voice to dial in to MaestroConference. Other options include calling cards and discount long-distance carriers.
Q: When exactly does this course happen?
A: The course begins May 1, 2017 and runs till June 26, 2017 (with a one-week break halfway through from May 29 – June 5 to integrate and if necessary, catch up). Your weekly recorded teaching and practice sessions will be released each Monday at 9am PT, as well as accompanying handouts, journalling refections and resources. The live Q&A calls will happen Sundays, May 21 and June 18 at 9am PT. The course ends on June 26, 2017. You will have continued access to all the recordings and course material following the end of the course until July 31, 2017, so that you can download any materials or save any content that you would like to keep for your personal files.
Q: Can I benefit from the course if I miss a class or any of the live interactive Q&A sessions?
A: Yes! If you miss any of sessions, you can access on our online course members’ page all the course session recordings to listen to by playback or by download to your audio player, as well as all accompanying handouts and materials . You can also engage with the full learning community in our private facebook group. And you can email your questions to Miriam to answer on the live calls (write to: firstname.lastname@example.org ). This is the beauty of this format, especially for parents! You can work with this course material at the time that is most convenient for you and your family.
Q: How much does this course cost?
A: This eight-week course costs US$ 275 .
Q: Are there scholarships available for this course?
A: Yes, we make sure that a certain percentage of spaces are available for partial scholarships, giving preference to those in developing countries or doing important but underpaid work to which they can apply the training material immediately. Q: What is your refund policy?
A: Refunds will be given for cancellations received in writing or via e-mail by April 30, 2017. A US$ 45.00 processing fee will be deducted. After April 30, 2017 no refunds will be made on any cancellations received.
